This privacy policy explains how The Hair Scientist (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you shop at hairscientist.shop.

Information we collect and how we use it

When you shop with The Hair Scientist, we receive information such as your name, contact details, billing and shipping details, products ordered, and payment and transaction information. Payment processing is provided through Shopify Payments and the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers. We use this information to process and deliver orders, provide order and account updates, handle returns, prevent fraud, and maintain required records.

When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, phone number, and message you choose to provide. We use these details to respond and address your request. Please do not send full payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information.

We and our service providers also receive information about your device and interactions with the store, such as pages and products viewed, shopping-cart activity, and purchases.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar technologies support store operation, analytics, personalization, and the advertising activities described below, subject to applicable consent and privacy choices. You can block cookies in your browser; checkout may not work if you do. Blocking browser cookies alone does not control all server-based sharing.

Shopify and Shopify Network Intelligence

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which processes personal information when you visit or purchase from us. We use Shopify Network Intelligence. Shopify combines information from interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify to provide services including personalization, improved store performance, and advertising. Information is shared with Shopify and other providers, which may process it in countries other than where you live. Meta advertising

We use Meta Pixel and Conversions API through Shopify’s Facebook & Instagram channel to measure advertising and help show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. These tools share browsing and purchase activity with Meta. They can also share details such as name, location, email address, and phone number to match activity with Meta users. Conversions API sends purchase information directly between Shopify and Meta’s servers. Available consent and opt-out choices apply to this processing. Reviews

We use Judge.me to request and manage product reviews. Judge.me can access customer contact details, order and product information, and device and activity information such as IP address, browser information, and browsing behavior. If you submit a review, Judge.me also processes your review content and reviewer information. Your review and chosen display name may be published with the review; avoid including information you do not want made public. Who we share information with

We share information with providers that operate our store, process payments, deliver orders, support reviews and customer service, and provide the analytics and advertising services described above. We may also disclose information to meet legal obligations and protect against fraud. Advertising-related disclosures can be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under applicable privacy laws.

Retention

Order records are kept as long as needed for accounting, fulfillment, and legal requirements.

Your privacy choices and rights

Use Your Privacy Choices for the available opt-out process. In regions where our opt-out controls apply, the store also recognizes supported Global Privacy Control signals. Where cookie preferences are offered, you can use them to change your consent choices.

You can use our contact form to make a privacy request, request a copy of the order information we have, or ask us to update or delete it where we are not required to keep it. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, obtain a copy of, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain uses or opt out. California residents may also request to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” as those terms are defined by California law. We may need to verify a request and retain information where required.
